Coffee Shop Window

There’s a baby in a stroller

on the other side

of the glass wall

that encloses the coffee shop’s “Non-Smoking Area.”

Two girls

puffing on sticks –

one, while pressing the keys of her mobile phone

the other, while pushing and pulling the stroller

with her pedicured feet.

Smoke encircles them

and the baby giggles

as his mother waves her hand in the air

like a magic wand.

they disappear

and all I see

are little black wheels rolling away

and a vanishing white cloud.
